Independent Commissioner Against Corruption (Serious or Systemic Misconduct or Maladministration) Amendment Bill
The Hon. K.L. VINCENT: The Dignity Party also supports the bill. Given that at the very heart of the issues at Oakden that have been recently uncovered is a culture of secrecy and cover-up and people not necessarily coming forward when the wrong thing was done, I think we need to follow every possible avenue to shine a light on these issues. I have some sympathy for the government’s concerns; however, given that the bill does allow, as other speakers have already said, for the commissioner to exercise discretion about which hearings will be public and which will not, I think that should go some way to allay these concerns. So, we will support the bill.
