Kelly Vincent hears from locals in South-East of South Australia

Dignity MP Kelly Vincent has visited Tintinara and Mount Gambier this week, meeting with a range of locals. Issues discussed included cost of living pressures, the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS), My Aged Care, and the digital divide.

“The South-East of our state is suffering under the impact of increasing energy costs on business,” says Kelly Vincent.

“It is also worrying to hear of funding cuts to mental health services and the axing of the community legal service.

“Transport is also an issue for many people, especially travel to medical appointments in Adelaide.

“It is clear there will be work for allied health professionals and others offering services to people with disabilities associated with the rollout of the NDIS.

“What is less clear is how to attract experienced therapists to live and work in the region.

Of course, locals in Mount Gambier know the lifestyle of their city is second to none, with sporting, social and cultural pursuits, shopping, restaurants and some of the world’s best wineries in close proximity.

“It’s a very liveable and loveable place!” said Ms Vincent.
