The Ice Factor Plus Program
For people with additional needs and disabilities to participate in ice and snow activities at the Thebarton Ice Arena
Free of charge every Tuesday.
Launching Tuesday September 26 at 12.30pm, the IceArena in conjunction with its new Ice Factor Plus Program, Minda Inc and Pasadena Special Unit invites all those with additional needs and disabilities to experience snow and ice activities for absolutely no charge, on every Tuesday during its morning and afternoon sessions (apart from school holidays).
Two successful pilot programs have been conducted over the last two weeks in conjunction with people from Minda and Pasadena Special Unit that has proved to be a huge success.
Marie Shaw QC – Volunteer director of Ice Factor Plus program explained: “The volunteers of the SAISF IceArena (with Humphrey B Bear!) are very excited to extend our community based programs to provide free ice and snow activities every Tuesday (outside school holidays) to our friends in need, or with a disability. It’s wonderful to learn that for some of our guests, it is their first experience of snow and ice activities.”
The Ice Factor Plus program launches Tuesday at 12.30pm with special guest Humphrey B Bear providing entertainment, guest speakers Marie Shaw QC and Michael Tye (President of the SAISF), Dignity Party Leader, Hon Kelly Vincent MLC, Senator Lucy Gichuhi, Shadow Minister for Disabilities, Hon Michelle Lensink MLC and representatives from the NXT Party and Labor Party.
