Regional concerns heard first hand
South Eastern Times |Kelly Vincent
I RECENTLY visited the South East and met with a range of locals to discuss cost of living pressures, the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS), My AgedCare, and the digital divide.
The region is suffering under the impact of increasing energy costs on business. It is also worrying to hear of funding cuts to mental health services and the axing of the community legal service.
Transport is also an issue for many people, especially travel to medical appointments in Adelaide. It is clear there will be work for allied health professionals and others offering services to people with disabilities associated with the rollout of the NDIS.
What is less clear is how to attract experienced therapists to live and work in the region. It’s a very livable and loveable place.
