Exploring and ensuring all our regions have to offer

Dignity Party MLC Kelly Vincent enjoyed country hospitality in Kadina, Port Pirie and Port Augusta this week.

“I set out to explore the region and meet with locals ahead of the next phase of the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS), which will include adults from 1 July, 2017,” says Kelly Vincent.

“There is great interest in the NDIS and there is potential for increased employment in allied health, disability support and other industries that provide equipment and services to the disability community.

“It was pleasing to encounter a great deal of enthusiasm for upgrading ageing infrastructure to allow access for everyone, particularly the ageing population.

“I am persuaded against any move to cap local government rates, and look forward to further discussion about this in the coming months.

“The vibrant tourism sector in these regions is employing locals, and showcasing our state to visitors.

“Port Augusta is an economy, and a community, in transition.  The opportunity to pioneer solar thermal is an important investment in the future of our state that we must seize.

I’m really grateful to all the local people who shared their time and perspectives with me. Understanding local issues helps me achieve more for this great and diverse state,” said Ms Vincent.
