There are calls for the State Government to make rail crossings safer after a teenager was hit by a train at Linton last night. Dignity for Disability MLC, Kelly Vincent, says automated gates and clearer lines are needed to protect pedestrians.

Vincent: “The more reactive rather than proactive the Government is on this issue the more likely they are to end up with yet more blood on their hands.”

The Transport Department says investigations into the incident are continuing and it will consider if more safety measures are needed.
